King for Kids

The State Farm King for Kids Bikeathon was a huge success, culminating with the ride through Akron. Over the years I've participated in countless charity events involving softball, golf, running, you name it...but this one was pretty special. The beauty of this event is the range of ages of riders, as well as the hundreds who lined the route, hoping to catch a glimpse of LeBron, Dwyane Wade, Troy Smith and Kenny Lofton to name a few...

Our little group of cyclists thought we were a big deal when we passed D-Wade, until he smiled and said "this is my rehab."

That kept our egos in check...

Boobie Gibson, coming off ankle surgery, still came out for support, hitching a ride in a golf cart...Daniel says he's feeling great by the way...

LBJ thinks this Bikeathon ride has national potential, and I can see why...everyone loved it! It's such a fun family experience, evident by Danny Ferry, who rode with his kids, as well as the Melvin Hunt clan.

Keeping up with Mike Brown was a chore...coach is pretty smooth.

Hope you can join us next year, the memories will be worth it.
